HAPPY YEAR OF THE HORSE!!! Awesome Chinoiserie Decor To Inspire
It is the year of the horse, and that is particularly auspicious for me because I was born in the year of the horse. (I hope I get a great job this year! And finally graduate with a interior design degree too!) To celebrate, I wanted to share some of my absolute FAVORITE feel-good Chinese-inspired pictures (and a few that aren’t really Chinese but still Asian, but I like them, so I threw them in). Hope you also love what you see here. For way more Chinoiserie awesomeness, check out the Chinoiserie Chic blog. Many blessings and happiness in this New Year of the Horse!
- Emilio Pucci Dragon Wedges, 2013. Oh. My. Goodness. But seriously, at over $4,000, it would be far more cheaper and more fun to commission an artist on AliBaba.com from India or Indonesia to carve and cobble you a pair. I think this Mongolian girl is so pretty, and so is her blue del. I can’t find the source of this picture, so if you know, please let me know so I can link back to the source! Thanks!
This is a Chinese lock charm, used for good luck and protection. These are really cool and you can buy them quite cheaply on eBay. From: http://primaltrek.com/locks.html
I always loved Miss Bianca’s magical and elegant little dollhouse mouse house, The Porcelain Pagoda, drawn by Garth Williams and Erik Blegvad talented hands (Garth Williams is better though). First picture from “Miss Bianca In The Orient” illustrated by Erik Blegvad, right 2 pictures from “The Rescuers” illustrated by Garth Williams.
Super fancy Chinese lantern from expired eBay auction.

There are 5 Elements that cycle through the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. I wanted to do a pictorial representation of them:
