HAPPY YEAR OF THE HORSE!!! Awesome Chinoiserie Decor To Inspire

It is the year of the horse, and that is particularly auspicious for me because I was born in the year of the horse. (I hope I get a great job this year! And finally graduate with a interior design degree too!) To celebrate, I wanted to share some of my absolute FAVORITE feel-good Chinese-inspired pictures (and a few that aren’t really Chinese but still Asian, but I like them, so I threw them in). Hope you also love what you see here. For way more Chinoiserie awesomeness, check out the Chinoiserie Chic blog. Many blessings and happiness in this New Year of the Horse!

If you ever get the chance to go to Galveston Island, Texas, you definitely should, it’s a pretty magical place, and while you are there, be sure to eat at the dreamy Happy Buddha restaurant.

There are 5 Elements that cycle through the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. I wanted to do a pictorial representation of them:

Uffington-White-Horse- chalk Celtic earth geoglyph horse

The Uffington White Horse is a geoglyph made by the Celtic peoples around 800 B.C. It is 110 m long (374 feet). It was featured in the May 1977 issue of National Geographic Magazine, in a article about the Celts.

WOOD HORSE (this year):

This is a painting of the Horsehead Nebula, so technically more plasma, dust, and empty space than actual fire, but it is so stunningly beautiful and, well, fiery, that I thought it fit well enough.
